Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information OnSet Report collects when you read the site, why we collect it, and what control you have over it. It applies to onsetreport.com and any subdomain we operate.

Information we collect

Analytics data. We record anonymised page views to understand which articles are useful. This includes the page URL, referring page, approximate time on page, screen size, browser and a randomly generated visitor identifier stored in your browser. That identifier is not tied to your name or email and is not sold or shared.

Newsletter data. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store the email address you give us so we can send it. Nothing else is required.

Submissions. If you send a news tip, correction or pitch, we keep the message and any contact details you include so we can follow up.

Accounts. Editorial contributors have accounts. Those store an email address, display name and optional profile details. Readers do not need an account.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of first-party cookies and local storage entries for essential functions (keeping a signed-in contributor session) and for the anonymous analytics identifier described above. Third-party services we load — including Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity — may set their own cookies subject to their policies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time; the site remains readable without them.

Advertising and affiliate links

Some articles contain advertising or affiliate links. If you buy something through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Advertising partners may use cookies to measure clicks. Commercial relationships never determine our editorial conclusions — see our about page.

How we use information

We use the data above only to operate and improve the publication: measuring readership, fixing broken pages, sending the newsletter you asked for, and responding to messages. We do not sell personal data, and we do not build advertising profiles of individual readers.

Data retention

Analytics records are kept in aggregate form. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages sent to the newsroom are kept for as long as the story they relate to is relevant.

Your rights

You may ask us to confirm what personal data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Every newsletter includes a one-click unsubscribe link. To make any other request, contact us through the contact page and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

OnSet Report is intended for a professional adult audience and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle reader data, we will update this page and note the change here. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
