Elin-Margareta Nordin was born on October 22, 1986, in Eskilstuna, Södermanlands län, Sweden, and started acting in theatre, commercials, and television while still in her teens. She has since worked across three countries and nearly every side of a film set — in front of the camera, behind it, and in the edit bay.
From Sweden to Hollywood and Back
After a year studying at Santa Monica College in Los Angeles, Nordin returned home to Sweden and kept acting, but Hollywood stayed with her — she still visits regularly and is planning to move back. It was in Stockholm that her short film The Bohemian took shape, created with friend and filmmaker Linda Sjöberg. The two had become close while working together on the theatre play Spritfesten (The Alcohol Party) between 2008 and 2010, and The Bohemian was released in 2009.
A Decade in London
Between 2010 and 2018, Nordin lived and worked in London, taking on roles across Call the Midwife, Holby City, Angels of Brick Lane, The Ritual, Me, Myself and I, and Toy Box Killers, among other film, theatre, and television projects. In 2018, she filmed and edited musicians Claire Hamill & Andrew Warren’s music video Secrets by Summer. A year earlier, she had begun a long-running creative partnership with director, producer, and writer Mark Denham, starting with his short film Love and Warheads and continuing through The Ritual, Toy Box Killers, El Cucuy, Sibling Rivalry, The Untitled Show: The Interview, After Claire’s Funeral, Lonely and Insane, and Lonely.
Podcasting, Modeling, and What’s Next
When she isn’t acting or directing, Nordin runs The Untitled Show by E-MN, a podcast about cold cases, ghosts, and the unknown, released on SoundCloud and Spotify. She has recently begun modeling for Spanish designers and continues to collaborate with writer and journalist Paul Bagnall — their script The Frenzied Quill received an Honorable Mention. Your artistic journey has taken you from Sweden to Los Angeles and London. How have these international experiences shaped your identity as an actress, director, and storyteller?
"I have gotten more experience with my art and how I work. It has helped me to be more open."
You began performing at a young age in theatre, commercials, and television. What first drew you to acting, and what has continued to inspire you throughout the years?
"Marilyn Monroe has always been my idol, and I loved watching old movies as a child, and I still love watching old movies today. Old Hollywood has been my inspiration even today."
Hollywood has clearly remained an important part of your vision. What does Los Angeles represent for you today, both professionally and personally?
"It represents a world where anything can happen and you can be anything. Be a star. And I love L.A.—it was my first dream, my first love, and L.A. is still my first dream and first love."
From silent film work like The Bohemian to horror, mystery, and dramatic productions, your career reflects strong creative range. What kind of stories are you most passionate about telling today?
"Everything, I want to tell all stories and make magic."
You have worked not only as an actress but also as an editor, director, and producer. How does working behind the camera influence the way you perform in front of it?
"It helps me to respect and understand the process in both film and stage. It won’t work to reach the stars without the amazing crew. I recommend everybody to work behind the scenes; you will love and respect film and stage even more."
Your web show The Untitled Show by E-MN explores cold cases, ghosts, and the unknown. What inspired you to create this platform, and what draws you to supernatural and mystery themes?
"I love stories, to tell stories, and I wanted to talk about what inspired me and what I like to listen to."
Horror and psychological tension seem to be recurring elements in your recent work. What do you believe this genre can reveal about human nature and society?
"It reveals everything about a person—fears, survival, life, love, and when there is death. What would you do for someone else or to someone else?"
Your collaboration with Paul Bagnall on The Frenzied Quill received an Honorable Mention. What can you share about this project, and what made this story important for you to develop?
"The Frenzied Quill started as a short film with Mark Denham playing Michael, and I was a character who was a fan of his. When Paul and I first met, we worked on another script, and I asked him if he wanted to be part of The Frenzied Quill, and he said yes. Mark is still Michael, and it is so important because it is more than a film—it is a series."
What message would you like to share with emerging artists—especially women in film and storytelling—who are trying to build an international path in today’s industry?
"Work and study. Always dream big and take your dreams to amazing projects. It is always you who can stop yourself or push yourself forward."
